The Youth Centre is situated in the urban centre of Los Realejos, in an area which is home to several public facilities that occupy entire blocks and are enclosed by high perimeter walls. In this context, the new Youth Centre has been built around a public square that has been ceded to the city. The rough exterior skin, made with projected volcanic aggregate-based concrete, defines the urban presence of the building. In its interior, a colour code is used to identify specific areas, which are equipped with a system of mobile wall partitions to allow maximum flexibility of use of the multipurpose hall. The hall is flanked by seminar rooms for more specific uses. These alternate with light-filled and coloured patios that reflect, via the folded geometry of their double skin, their colour as an element of definition and transformation of a dynamic space.
